Écrivain confirmé âgé de trente-neuf ans, Olivier Bleys a publié vingt livres : romans, essais, récits de voyage, bandes dessinées, romans d'anticipation, surtout chez Gallimard qui l’a nommé en 2004 lecteur permanent. L’ensemble de son œuvre est traduit dans une dizaine de langues, et lui a valu de nombreuses récompenses dont le prix François Mauriac de l’Académie française pour Pastel (Gallimard, 2000). Au cours de sa carrière, Olivier Bleys a effectué plusieurs séjours en résidence d’écrivain et pris part à de nombreuses manifestations, tant en France qu’à l’étranger : par exemple, il a été choisi pour représenter la France aux IIIe Jeux de la Francophonie à Madagascar.
Olivier Bleys possède aussi une expérience approfondie des nouvelles technologies. Il a d’abord occupé au sein de sociétés d’édition numérique (Infogrames, Cryo, Index +…) des postes à responsabilité croissante, de chef de projet à directeur éditorial, avant de devenir concepteur multimédia indépendant. Il est enfin conférencier et formateur, spécialement dans les bibliothèques.
En dernier lieu, Olivier Bleys revendique un goût affirmé pour l’échange culturel. Dès l’âge de 22 ans, il fonde l’association Jeunes Artistes du Monde qui promeut le voyage artistique. Des séjours à l’étranger sont organisés (Égypte, Ouganda, Mali, Madagascar…), impliquant des créateurs de plusieurs disciplines et nationalités. Suivront des expositions, des débats et des publications : par exemple, celle d’un recueil de Contes et légendes Tandroy chez l’Harmattan.
En juillet 2010, Olivier Bleys a pris le départ d'un tour du monde à pied, par étapes, qu'il poursuit d'année en année.

Olivier BLEYS
Thirty-nine year-old Olivier Bleys received a technological and literary education, completed by a postgraduate diploma towards cultural projects at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Grenoble. His career path has been influenced both by books and by new technologies, by the written word and the computer screen.
Having proved himself as a writer, Olivier Bleys has published twenty books : novels, essays and travel stories, mainly with the Gallimard publishing house (home publisher of last literature Nobel prize Jean-Marie Le Clézio) which appointed him editorial consultant in 2004. His complete works have been translated into about ten languages, among them English, and have won him several awards, such as the Prix François Mauriac of the Académie Française. Frequently republished (paperback, book clubs...), his works interest teachers, for example Pastel was published in 2000 by Gallimard, and is now part of the syllabus of the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales.
Over the course of his career, Olivier Bleys has completed several writer’s residencies and has taken part in many events, in France as well as abroad. For example, he was chosen to represent France at the 3rd Jeux de la Francophonie in Madagascar. He was also Resident of the Randell Cottage (New-Zealand) from 2008 to 2009.
Olivier Bleys also has extensive experience with new technologies. He first held positions of increasing responsibility with software publishing companies (Infogrames, Cryo, Index +,...), from project manager to head of department, before becoming an independent multimedia designer, and, in 2005, chief editor for Strass Productions. He took part in concept design or dialogs writing of many video games. He also organised seminars and training courses, especially for libraries.
Lastly, Olivier Bleys asserts a strong taste for cultural exchange. At the age of 22, he sets up the association Jeunes Artistes du Monde which promotes artistic travel. Travels abroad are organised (to Egypt, Uganda, Mali, Madagascar,...) involving artists and designers from various fields and of different nationalities. These are followed by exhibitions, debates and publications, for example that of a collection of Tandroy tales and legends by the Harmattan publishing company.
Passionate about the wider French-speaking world, Olivier Bleys has managed a study mission for the Bibliothèque Francophone Multimédia de Limoges. In 1996 he obtained the post of national coordinator for culture with the Initiatives network which brings together the recipients of the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ Défi-Jeunes scholarships.
In July 2010, Olivier Bleys started a round-the-world walk, by steps, which continues from year to year.
